A program carried out to prevent vaccine-preventable diseases and the disability and deaths caused by these diseases. Examples include the programs which aimed to prevent pertussis, diphtheria, tetanus, measles, rubella, mumps, tuberculosis, polio, chickenpox, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and invasive diseases caused by S. pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae type b, and infant and child deaths and disability caused by these diseases.
